STOP KILLING OUR KIDS’ DREAMS! #haters

Thank you Millennials!

Thank you for encouraging me and countless other Gen X’ers to THINK BIG and BE FEARLESS again! I am a Gen X’er who just realized that by working for myself,  I can professionally monetize my talents to make the world a better place (or at least a more interesting one). However, millennials are growing up in an era where they believe that “Anything is Possible” and their needs are just an app away. They do not take NO for an answer and they turn down opportunities that are not aligned with what they want to do, or opportunities that bore them. They leave the boring stuff for the Gen X’ers to wear like a warm and fuzzy security blanket. Despite the innovative energy that Millennials are giving to the world, we hate on them.

We kill their dreams because misery loves company.Debbie Downer

“They do not like hard work.” #hater  – Work smarter!

“They feel entitled.” #hater – You deserve more, but you don’t say anything because you are scared!

So, What do we do? We hate.

Teachers who do not make learning fun and engaging enough to uncover their students’ talents…#haters

School district officials misusing funds for their personal gains…#criminals and #haters

Parents who encourage their children to just find a “good job” instead of supporting their child’s talents…#haters

Colleges who give away early acceptances (sight unseen) just to make a profit…#criminals and #haters

Congress getting rich off of student debt leaving graduates to work in jobs that are unfulfilling to pay off loans…#criminals and #haters

Yeezy is on to something. Yeah,  I said it! When did we stop encouraging our young people to seek infinite possibilities while putting their time and their effort into executing their passions? When did we stop challenging them to have new ideas and give them opportunities to make their ideas reality? When did we stop allowing them to believe that they were geniuses?
